Bavarian Bobber

Just Plodding along

This is a 1983 ex police R80 that I have owned for 4 yrs and tends to smoke a bit , first 3 as a rat bike with full luggage used and abused and ridden the hell out of for over 50k. THEN I went to the Chopper Clubs Cambridge run in May 2009, got home, got my grinder out cut off rear sub frame and bobbed rear end into a single seater.

Then the journey home from the Ireland run in August 2009 finally killed the engine so a full strip down reshape rear again fully enclosed rear triangle for tools and electrics, sent the frame and tins off for paint.

I rebuilt the engine and carbs and polished casings whilst the other stuff was away at the painters. I also reshaped  the top yoke fitted a nice new pair T bars with a bandit master cylinder, welded on a light mount and fitted a pair of twin lights, kindly donated by Craig B33, and polished it all. The frame and tins came home 3 weeks before our first run of 2010 a mad rebuild and shopping spree for bits I didn't realise I'd thrown away: in with the engine, a rewire that finally worked thanks to Jim B33.

Then a quick trip to airbrusher to have the CHOPPER CLUB stencil put on tank, adapted  some Harley shocks to fit, remove the balance pipe and wrapped the header pipes , fitted a stainless brake rod and nearly every other fixing on bike in polished stainless, begged my girlfriend to make summat to park my arse on as I didn't have a seat. Fill with fluids fire it up with a whole day to spare and it STILL! smokes,,,  and this summer a new tank to come with some rake and new pipes.    T B33
